Post Questions when stripping an IX.
Boys & Girls,

So my daily driver IX is parked while I work on removing some much needed parts from a donor IX car.
My question is after the usual stripping of drive-train, interior, wiring, good body parts, etc.. is there anything I should consider removing from the shell itself?

I'm sure a buttload of shell pieces are NLA, so before I chop up the remaining body, thought I'd ask for your thought!
Thanks

Did you mean xi?
You didn't mention the year/model/body style. I have a 2008 335xi sedan. It wasn't equipped with an oil cooler and with the 2 turbo N54 and JB4, the oil temp started getting quite high in the summer. I've since retrofitted an aftermarket oil cooler and it runs about 110C all day long. :)
If you're in the same boat, strip off the oil cooler, oil cooler support, threaded support nut insert, rad support with bolts, oil lines and brackets, oil filter housing, fender liner, air scoop and open grill.
The only other problem I've had to date is a burned out angel eye bulb. This is going to cost $75 at a dealer with a pita diy install.

Seems like you have it pretty much covered: drive-train, interior, wiring, good body parts, etc

Make sure you take the front axles, they are very expensive to replace.

Grab the steering rack. I believe those are ix specific.
Also the brake booster, people use it for some engine swaps. Could be worth something.
